1,000 Books Before Kindergarten—It’s Possible!
–3 books a day for 1 year
— 1 book a day for 3 years
Research shows that reading to children in the home dramatically improves their academic success, supports their social-emotional development, and strengthens family ties. It is never too early to start reading to a child. Make reading together a part of your daily routine.
The Frederic Library offers 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten with an easy online app that helps parents record the number of books they and others read to their child. Win prizes and see your child bloom with the world of books.
A library card is not necessary, but we encourage all parents to stop by the children’s room and roam the shelves. We are getting new books every month and have many on display. Parents can also find age appropriate DVDs that support fun and interactive learning. Fun interactive games give kids a safe place to play and there are cushy chairs to help moms and dads to relax.
Story Time is both online and in person!
Join us in the Library Wednesdays at 10:30AM to play, sing, dance, and read with Ms. Maria! Families who prefer can access the live stream on Frederic Public Library FACEBOOK page or request a Zoom link.
A Library Card is a Homework Helper:
Remember a library card gives online access to statewide databases: you can use it to find magazine, journal, and newspaper articles; genealogy sources; auto repair; consumer reports; free language lessons; and other learning tools provided by BadgerLink and IFLS Library System. All for free!
Back to School Specials!
Are your older children ready for their school reading challenges? Don’t forget that the Library has many new novels, graphic novels, non-fiction and research materials in the Junior and Young Adult sections of the Library. Kids read more willingly if they find books that interest them. Our hottest item now is “You Choose Books” which invite the reader to choose their own literary adventure. Multiple endings provide many hours of reading enjoyment. Even the most reluctant reader will find something of interest in our collection.
